Tank girl, suicide girls, vincent price, and more nonsense

January 10th, 2009 by misadventuresofmarla

Hello. I’m updating.

I know its been a month since I’ve posted anything on here. Sorry about that. However, after a bit of prodding from Master Jeremy I’ve decided to post something.

This will be long, sorry ahead of time. You guys know me, I never know when to shut the fuck up! I guess I’ll do a bullet list to make it shorter. Hopefully that will keep me from elaborating too much…

  • Our Hot water heater broke down right after Jeremy’s parents visit in August. (Remember my running tabs of shite that broke… here.) How do we bathe you ask?! Glad you asked. We fill 4 pots of water, boil, pour into bathtub, repeat 4 more times, and enjoy. Takes about 2-3 hours to fill the tub half way because our stove takes a while to boil…So much fun.  Why not buy a new one?? Well, when we went to buy a hot water heater we found out that North Carolina is one of few states to (of course) have some backwards laws on installing them. See, you buy a hot water heater for about $400, add $300 to have it installed (It also may cost $$ if they decide to do a “site inspection” before your scheduled installation to make sure they can get into the area, etc, add another $100-$200 for special “building” permits. Okay, then if anything “unplanned/unexpected” happens, like pipes, wires, etc need replaces, plan on having some money set aside. Now, the total is about $900 minus “unplanned” money, so we will say, $1,000 total cost. Then you have to call your local zoning office to come down and inspect the installation. If they approve, you done. If not, you have to pay to have it “properly installed and brought up to code”. So, we shit when we heard that a $400 hot water heater we came to Lowes to purchase would possibly cost $1000 by the time we had it installed. Then, the employee also tells us that NC zoning law  requires an “expansion” tank be installed. Why another tank? Well, this expansion tank is much smaller and runs about $60 (nothing compare to above!) and comes in handy (for the city) to hold “excess” water from your home so it does not back up into the city’s water…So, Our grand total for a hot water heater is roughly $1060 plus tax. More if we chose an energy saving, larger capacity model. Which we will, we’d be stupid not too because it would pay off right away. Plus, we’d get a tax deduction on it. Actually, HERE is what we’re thinking of getting. However our basement has no real walls, so we’d have to have one built I guess. (Our basement is a crawlspace and the breaker box is hung on two pieces of wood from a beam. Click HERE to watch a little 2 minute video showing why our basement sucks. Our “basement” is a fucking joke! We’re terrified to have zoning look down there, it will cost thousands!)
  • We have no heat. Haven’t had heat. We found out in September that it would cost $1300 to get a tank full of oil. So, we froze until Late October / Early November when we found $40 tabletop space heaters. They work fairly well. Better than nothing. Actually, they work really good as long as it isn’t under 40 degrees outside. They are not, however, a good substitute for a hair dryer when you want to put up a hawk. ; ) Oh, but for “Christmas” my dad bought me a hair dryer and a straightener so now I can finally fuck up my hair properly.
  • We still have yet to finish painting the kitchen. The island needs finished yet, the walls need done, and the molding needs done.
  • We got a laptop which is great since we don’t smoke in the house. On a credit plan of course. $19 extra bucks a month (on to the dell charge, for a total of $66 a month) but worth it. Laptops instead of hot water heaters!? It sounds like our priorities are bit mixed up. I assure you we sit and logically discuss everything before we buy or do anything, and then we feel better whether we decide to be logical or illogical. Example: We are delighted to have a laptop instead of hot water, while logically we take responsibility for ignoring logic and desperately miss a good bath or shower and often discuss in great detail just how wonderful we plan to make our 10 showers each the day we get hot water back .
  • I got Jeremy the “5th book in the increasingly inaccurately named hitchhiker’s trilogy” titled “Mostly Harmless” by Douglas Adams. A first edition, for only $1.99.
  • Those of you who talk to me on a regular basis, know how much Jeremy and I enjoy the rain. Nothing makes us happier than pretending the world will flood and end it all. Kidding, sort of. Anyway, North Carolina gets no rain. Hardly any rain anyway. We have been in major drought 3 years running. Well, I’m delighted to announce that we have had rain at least 2 times a week for the last month. It is nothing compared to those Pennsylvania storms though, how I miss those storms!
  • I’m a big fucking dork. I like weird sometimes stupid things. Also, Books are my weakness. I read everything. Anything. Everybody knows this, so you should not be surprised to hear that I actually picked up the Twilight books to read. I was expecting severe disappointment since all the teenage girls love them. Well, I actually enjoyed them. They are not intelligent or thought provoking by any means, but they are entertaining. I’m not in to romance novels unless they are either really really intelligently written, or really fucked up and twisted. Twilight does not meet either of those but isn’t bad for teenage vampire romance…The movie on the other hand…just read the books instead. Oh, and Jeremy is now reading the books and very much likes them too. So, you know it can’t be that bad. He hates romance.
  • We had a cemetery day trip in October. That was swell. We took a shitload of pictures with the digital camera while we strolled the grounds for a few hours. I may post some later.
  • Speaking of posting pictures. I’m thinking of making a photo gallery of sorts on my website. That way all you freaks can ogle us and the titties until you’re ready to stalk us.
  • We did a “photo shoot” the other day of Jeremy. Jeremy is thinking of selling photos of himself on modeling sites. I’m also considering becoming a suicide girl. Jeremy suggested it. I take damn nice pictures when I don’t look like crap. Which is how I look in every picture I have up on here and on my various social profiles. I lost all the good ones when the 280 gig hard drive crashed. Over 1/3 of that hard drive was pictures of us. I’m still pissed about that. I haven’t had the urge to take any good pictures since…hopefully that will change soon.
  • If I ever get this house together, I’ll post some pictures of it. I keep saying that but the house still isn’t quite right. I’m considering what to do to the bathroom at the moment but all my ideas are too “extreme” since we want to move again in a few years. I want to go back to Berwick where there is still a few kick ass people who exist. (Hey guys!)  Jeremy does not. He isn’t sure where he wants to live yet. So, who knows where we will be in a few years but the point is, it won’t be here. So, I can’t do anything too crazy to the house that will take a crazy effort to remove. I originally wanted to rip up a lot of comics and paste them to the wall as “wallpaper”. Paint the toilet and seal it. Cover the ceiling in glass shards. Stencil band names all over the shower and seal with clear waterproof sealer, and lastly nail a few “cherished” items to the walls. However, I can’t. So, At the moment I’m stumped but welcoming suggestions from everybody. Comment your ideas!
  • I have made a little money online . Nothing worthwhile yet. However, after reading more into it, I’ve realized these “markets” take some time to grow. I still have blogs going, I’m creating an information database website, and etc. So, if anything worthy of mention ($1000 a month minimum) happens, I’ll let you know. We’re also getting into selling stock photography. If that earns much I’ll mention that as well. So basically I have my hands in quite a few areas just waiting to harvest a profit.
  • I’ve been reading TANK GIRL comics lately. FYI, She is my idol and I LOVE HER! I would marry her but I have already proposed marriage to Vincent Price (numerous times). Although, I doubt Vincent would mind my marrying them both…Now that would be some wedding, TANK GIRL & Vincent Price!

“What’s bald, and smelly, snogs kangaroos, wears shoes that don’t fit and a bra that’s too tight, (and knickers that need a good wash), smokes, drinks, and fights too much for her own good, and at this very moment in time has a mega hangover?”  …………………….  TANK GIRL!

  • Oh, my cell number changed so if you want it, ask for it…You can send me  a message HERE.

Well, I guess that’s it. Long, I warned you. I’m going to try post on a regular basis again.
Also, as I said, I’m going to try to add a photos page on here soon and maybe some other “fun” stuff too. So far, this place sucks for a personal website. There isn’t much personal stuff on here so I’ll try to fix that.
I have a lot to juggle at the moment though so I may only post once a week or so. I’ll try for more though.
Before I forget, I just wanted to say that Jeremy’s parents will be down here in March. I plan to try and document that much better this time! Jeremy and I are trying to plan some fun stuff for them this time around. Maybe a day trip to the Outer Banks and some other goodies. I wish I weren’t terrified of the ocean, I would love to get Randy, Marilyn, Jeremy, and Myself out on some surf boards. That would be a laugh! I’m clumsy, can’t swim, and afraid of the ocean, Randy and Marilyn are not the surfing type at all, and poor Jeremy would be blown off his board due to weighing slightly more than a feather. It would make an interesting post/video on here though…
Well, Later guys!
