Bush Deficit vs Obama Deficit

May 25th, 2010 by misadventuresofmarla

Just wanted to share this with you. Can’t remember where I got it from though.

“The budget Obama proposes for this year increases
federal spending by a fiscally insane 34% over the budget adopted for
last year, with a total of $4 trillion in federal spending, the highest
…EVER. But hey, why worry about spending money and incurring trillions of dollars in debt? He can always get more out of working Americans and when he’s bled us all dry, he can just print more money. Its like free money. Doesn’t the government have a big ol’ money printing press deep in the bowels of Fort Knox somewhere? Isn’t it great to have that kind of power! The democrats were in an uproar over the national deficit when Ronald Reagan was President. The Obama deficit, in the first year of his presidency, will be 4 times higher than the highest deficit ever reached while Reagan was President. But there’s nary a peep from the howling democrats over this. In fact, on the contrary, they are applauding it. At least the far left democrats are. In the first two months of Obama’s administration, the stimulus package has already contributed to quadruple the deficit. Of course, when Obama claims he’s going to half it by 2013, it could be the sort of sale we find at some of our finer department stores. You know, raise the price, then half it and come off like a hero. Maybe that’s his ultimate plan. Unfortunately, there are people who would actually fall for that. After all, there ARE people who answer the Nigerian email scams.”

Custom Spiked Cock Ring & eyelet bracelet

April 4th, 2010 by misadventuresofmarla

I’ve been busy busy since the weather has been nice. Gardening as well as other projects. One thing I was working on is a custom cock ring for a gentleman who saw some of my leather work and commissioned me to do some things for him. It was a pleasure to work with him. It was also nice being able to sell something that was supposed to be a hobby.

I decided to post some pictures of the in progress and finished spiked cock ring. It is made of vegan leather, called lorica. It is flexible, animal free, as well as washable. Which was perfect for this project. The cock ring measures 3/4″ wide and 5 1/16″ long. The spikes are 5/8″ nickel plated cone spikes hand sharpened to a point. The eyelets are 1/4″ nickel.

Our New Gevalia Coffee Pot and Accessories

February 27th, 2010 by misadventuresofmarla
Gevalia

Big box of Gevalia goodies

A couple weeks ago we got an offer in the mail to try out Gevalia’s coffee. We decided to give it a shot in order to get a new coffee pot. The one we bought a few months ago takes forever to brew. The introductory offer was $10 for two half pounds of coffee, free shipping, and free gifts. Sounded like a good deal plus, some of their coffee isn’t too expensive. Around $6/pound. I think shipping is around $5/shipment. We also liked that you can control the frequency of the shipments. You can get coffee delivered every week, or every two weeks, all the way up to 6 months between shipping. We set our plan up for 1 box of coffee every 6 weeks. Another thing I really like about Gevalia is the online account management. You can set up your future shipments dates online and then customize what you would like included. I like that you don’t have to order coffee every time, you can order tea too. Also, I like that you can vary the amount you get each shipment. It seems really nice so far.

Our first shipment arrived pretty quick, here is what we got for $10!

I might add more to it later but for now, its finished. I didn’t have a pattern and its the first dress I ever made its not great but I love it. I traced my body on fabric twice, cut the pieces out, sewed it up, and added an elastic band around the chest.

Raw Beet Soup

Beet Soup in the making

Raw Beet Soup in the making

Beet Soup

Raw Beet Soup

I did not follow a recipe for this. It was an experiment. If you want to experiment with it here is what is in it:

handfuls of red beets, kale, spinach, and cocktail onions in a blender with a little bit of beet juice, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, vegan veggie broth, salt, pepper, paprika, sage, molasses, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, homemade roasted red pepper hummus, flax seeds, and fire roasted red peppers in olive oil.

Then I chilled it in the fridge for an hour to blend the flavors. I think next time I’ll go easy on the kale though…gave it an after taste.
