Xbox 360 and damn Viva Pinata

April 5th, 2009 by misadventuresofmarla

Well, we splurged and charged an Xbox 360 after playing one at my mom’s house while in Pa to see my sister. We got it strictly because we love Katamari! Love Love Katamari! If you have never played the games Katamari Damacy, We love Katamari, Me and My Katamari, and Beautiful Katamari then your missing out on some strange, crazy Japanese fun!

The point of game (every game) is too “roll up” things. The king of cosmos, the cousins, and prince are on a hunt to put the cosmos back together after they accidentally destroy them in the beginning of each game. A katamari is simply a tiny little ball that you roll around on the planet earth and all our earthly junk sticks to it. Once you have made the Katamari as large as you’re told to, your taken to the King of Cosmos where he inspects and grumbles about your Katamari and then decides to turn it into either star dust or a star.

I can’t explain it as well as other can but it is extremely fun, addicting, and the characters you encounter are very entertaining.

Katamari is an addiction for Jeremy and I, so we had to buy an Xbox to play the newest game beautiful Katamari. It was fantastic of course. Much better than We love Katamari which was on the platform PS2.

We also bough Viva Pinata as it was the only other cheap game for the 360. What a mistake! That game is a monster at sucking you in. It’s a child’s game, it’s very simple, and ridiculously strange. Oh how we love it! We got addicted right away. Try to lure all the different species of pinata’s into our garden, trying to get all the right conditions set for the pinatas to “romance” and produce an offspring, trying to “evolve” each species into another species, and on and on. This game is oddly involved for a child’s game. There is so many little tips and tricks to learn. Each pinata species has different requirements for visiting your garden, become a resident of your garden, romancing, evolving, staying happy, blah blah blah. Very time consuming. It is very challenging to remember everything about the pinata and then you have to grow them food, plants, trees and other things as per their requirements. You can easily get distracted. You also have to remember to do things to make money so you can afford to tend to your garden and pinatas. Plus, your pinatas get ill so you’ll need to keep watch and pay for doctor when they are sick. You also have to be mindful that some of your pinatas require certain plants and things to be grown that will make other pinatas sick. There is much to the game and it is a lot of fun so I encourage you to try it out and see what you think. It seems that this game has more adults hooked than children and I think that is due to the level of involvement it requires.

Eventually, when I can afford it, I’d like to get the Xbox live gold subscription and call of duty, guitar hero, final fantasy, fables, and a few others but they will have to wait for now.
