After waiting “forever”, I am finally reading the latest John Saul book “Faces of Fear
“. I’ve read every book he has ever written and have yet to be disappointed. Every single book he writes becomes a New York Times bestseller, and with good reason, he is fucking amazing. I highly recommend all of his books. To give you an idea on the type of books he writes, read these two reviews listed on his website, www.johnsaul.com.
Providence Journal…“Reading Saul is like being buried alive in a nightmare…”
Kirkus Reviews…“Saul is…creepily compelling. A skillful manipulation of primal fears about the natural world and the corruption of innocence.”
What I love most about John Saul’s books is how realistic they are. They are suspenseful but completely believable. I love the way he brings the darker nature of all human beings out into the open. His characters are blunt, usually explicit, but again, completely realistic. He’s really got a knack for expressing the “evil” nature of humans. He has the ability to make you feel like you’re really eavesdropping on the mind of a serial killer and then in the next paragraph you feel like you’ve been with his victims all along. He can put you in the minds of every character, at the same time, throughout the entire book. I love it. I hope he never retires.
I’m only a third of the way through “Faces of Fear” since picking it up yesterday but I have no doubt I’ll be finished soon and just as pleased with the book as I have been with all his others.
