Eco living for under $10k

April 5th, 2009 by misadventuresofmarla

As you all know, I have a deep love for “older times”. I’m in love with the days when America was still beautiful and everybody had “trades” that sustained their families. Farmers, blacksmiths, apothecaries and such. Before internet, skyscrapers, and ugly modern life.

My point is I’ve stumbled upon a lovely little website where families have built Eco friendly homes and live off the land. No corporate jobs, no fast food, just working the land for all it’s natural wealth. The coolest thing is that they have done it extremely cheap. Under $10,000 USD  (they live in Wales) to build these homes. I want one so bad! This is exactly what I’m talking about when I say I want a commune (homestead) community that supports itself.Where Jeremy and I, and some friends and family can all have our own homes and chunks of land to work.

Here is a picture of my favorite Eco home they built. With my love of fairies this is perfect! The home looks like a perfect fairytale. I will have one custom built for Jeremy and I some day.

You can read more about this project at their website:

If nothing else, you should go to the website and read how and what the home is built out it. These people rock!
